How to Rent a Luxury Car in Vancouver

To rent a luxury car in Vancouver, choose a vehicle for your passengers and luggage, confirm the full CAD price and deposit, check driver eligibility, and agree delivery and return details before booking. This guide explains what to ask, without assuming every rental service works the same way.

What should I confirm before booking?

Start with the actual vehicle: model, seats, luggage space and equipment. If a particular car matters to your plans, ask what happens if it becomes unavailable. Avolus's terms allow cancellation or substitution in specified circumstances, so an unconditional exact-car guarantee would be misleading.

Request the full price for your dates, not just a starting rate. Include taxes, mandatory damage waiver, kilometre allowance, extra-kilometre charges, delivery outside the free area, optional extras and possible return charges. Keep the rental total separate from the refundable deposit.

Avolus drivers must be 25 or older with a full, unrestricted licence, not an N or L licence.
A credit card in the renter's own name is required for the $2,000 refundable hold.
Check cancellation terms and the signed rental agreement before paying.

How should I choose the car?

Match the car to your trip rather than choosing by appearance alone. Three-row SUVs can suit families, but confirm luggage room with all seats in use. A sedan can suit business travel, while a compact SUV can make city parking easier.

For winter travel toward Whistler, confirm tires separately from AWD or 4WD. Only the Cadillac Escalade currently has winter tires in the Avolus fleet. Road conditions and posted requirements still matter, whatever you rent.

What should I check at delivery?

Inspect the car before driving away. Record existing marks on panels, wheels and glass, plus the interior condition, fuel level and odometer. Photos or a walkaround video are useful records; ask how any existing damage will be documented in the agreement.

Confirm the return time and location, the required fuel level and whom to contact if plans change. Avolus is delivery-first, with free delivery within Vancouver and to YVR; other locations are quoted by arrangement. There is no public pickup counter.

What matters during the trip and at return?

Keep track of kilometres and fuel. Avolus's published short-term allowance is 150 km per day, with each vehicle's extra-kilometre charge listed in its rate card. Ask before travelling outside British Columbia: prior written approval is required under the rental terms.

At return, record the condition and fuel level again and agree any outstanding charges. Ask when the deposit release will be initiated after inspection. Bank processing time is separate, so do not assume the hold disappears immediately.
